Second Trimester Recap With Baby Number 2

in Pregnancy on 01/27/21

Yay for the second trimester! Even though it started off rocky for me, it’s ending on a positive note. My terrible nausea ended around week 15 and that’s when my appetite came back as well, but then my Ulcerative Colitis flared up and I was back to no appetite and throwing up again 🙁 It has been a journey this go-around for sure, but I am finally feeling so much better! Around week 22 I went to the hospital because I was losing a lot of blood for about a month (I will spare you the details). I ended up getting two blood transfusions and an iron infusion while I was there in hopes to get my energy back and to help with my flare up. A week after that I was still bleeding, so I caved and started on a pregnancy-safe steroid medication to help the inflammation because I was so desperate. The medication has helped me so much and I’m finally feeling myself again!

what I’m craving

I have been drinking Organic whole cow’s milk so much lately because it just sounds so good. I craved milk early in pregnancy with Oakley too. It fills me up enough at night when I wake up hungry as well. I don’t always feel like eating when I’m woken up from hunger because I just want to sleep haha, so this has been helping me with that. I’m not craving too much else right now though. I haven’t been really into meat at the moment, unless it’s Tanner’s bison steak he makes on the Traeger because it’s so so juicy and tender, but I will still eat most meats if it’s offered. I have just been so hungry which is great because I have some weight to gain from being sick so I snack all day long haha.

My New Birth Plan

I found out at my 20 week ultrasound that I have Placenta Previa which means I would have to deliver via C-section. I planned on having a natural birth with a midwife this time and now I have to be under the care of a OB in Idaho in case my placenta doesn’t move out of the way. There is a high percentage that it will move, so I’m very hopeful that it does! My plan for right now is to deliver in a hospital and get adjusted by a Chiropractor twice a week until delivery day.

Things We Still need to do before he arrives

We just moved into our new house, so that allows us to start fresh with painting and decorating for his room. We will paint all of our bedrooms in March and we still need a bassinet and crib. I haven’t bought anything except clothes for him because I will have a baby sprinkle in April, so I hope to get a few things on my list at that party. I’m thankful we are having another boy so I can reuse Oakley’s baby items haha. I’m honestly not too stressed about having his nursery completely finished, but I do have some essentials that I’ll need to buy soon!
