Oakley’s First Birthday!

in Lifestyle on 03/02/20

Our baby boy is ONE and I still cannot believe it! This last year was some of the best times in my life and I’m so glad to be Oakley’s mama. Planning this party was a lot of fun as I have never planned an entire party on my own before (Tanner did help too) and I thought it all turned out perfect! We decided to have an intimate gathering at our house with our friends to celebrate and I wanted the theme to be simple. I wasn’t a fan of a lot of the themes I saw, so I decided to use colors to decorate how I liked instead. I wanted lots of greenery, with pops of gold and white! We had to keep it simple because our townhouse is smaller, but I really liked how it all came together!

I bought most of the decor on Amazon and from Etsy. Those places were perfect and had the style I was looking for. We re-arranged our entire downstairs to open it up for our guests and used butcher paper (from Amazon) for the cake smash backdrop to hide the ugly light switches. All the balloons were from Amazon and we blew up the gold balloons with this, to make life easier. I printed black and white photos of Oakley throughout the year on Artifact Uprising and displayed them on the gift table, photo string and in the window frame we have.

For food, I went to Costco and got Mac&Cheese, Ravioli Lasagna, Chicken Salad, Croissants, Izze drinks, Sun Chips, Fruit Snacks and Muffins! I cut the muffins into fourths and made chicken-salad sandwiches with the croissants. The favorite dish out of them all was for sure the Mac&Cheese! Our sweet friend Sabrina, made Oakley’s smash cake and cup cakes for the party! It all tasted delicious! I’m looking forward to see what theme Oakley will want next year!
