With this being my second time postpartum, I feel confident enough to write this blog post about what I think you actually need after you have a baby. Some items are new this time around and some are things I used last time that I swear by. I’ll link what I can at the end of the post! Just scroll all the way down to shop 🙂
- Comfortable Underwear- These undies are a favorite especially after a c-section.
- A Good Nursing/Pumping Bra- Got this on Amazon and I’m impressed with how comfortable it is!
- Pads- After a c-section, you still bleed but not as much, so I used medium to light pads.
- A good pump- I got a medela pump from my insurance and its working way better than the cheap pump I bought on Amazon with Oakley. Get a hospital-grade pump if you can!
- Comfortable Loungewear- I’ll link some of my favorites at the moment at the bottom of this post. Dresses and stretchy pants were all that I was comfortable wearing for the first month after Easton was born.
- Comfortable Pajamas- Kinda the same as loungewear, but I got a few pairs that button down so I can pump easier.
- Liquid Collagen Supplement- I took this before I got pregnant for hair growth and saw so much improvement! I’m taking it earlier on postpartum to hopefully prevent my hair to fall out as much as it did last time. It’s safe for breastfeeding too! You can shop it here.
- A mini fridge in your room if you have a 2-story house- This is a need if you had a c-section! If you aren’t able to have help after you give birth, just get a mini fridge or in our case, a wine cooler (I took out a couple racks) and use it to store your breast milk or beverages or snacks, so you don’t have to go up and down the stairs as much. This is a game changer for those of you who pump like me so you don’t have to go downstairs after every feed in the middle of the night. I will have 3 bottles ready in the fridge for the next few feeds and store extra milk in bags and take those bags to the freezer in the morning. It has been working so well for me!
- Diaper Caddies- I have two of these for in our room and downstairs. It’s great so I don’t have to go up and down the stairs all day long just for a diaper change. I have all I need in a caddy that I can take around the house if need be and its all organized. Oakley is still in diapers and this works well for storing his diapers in too! The one upstairs is used in our bathroom for now and I put my pads and hospital underwear in there for the first week home. When Easton transitions into his own room, I’ll move that to his dresser and stock it with his wipes and diapers.
- A storage cart for your room- I’m all about the storage help this time around haha. This 3-tiered cart is perfect next to our dresser and I keep Easton’s diapers, wipes, burp cloths, swaddles and a night light on it for easy diaper changes.
